Modern fuel injection systems contain high-precision mechanisms that must be protected from contaminants. Even microscopic amounts can cause damage that can lead to power loss, higher fuel consumption, starting difficulties and higher emissions. That’s why fuel filters need to be absolutely trustworthy.

One particular Scania fuel filter contains a five-layer filter element, four synthetic layers and one cellulose. When we tested it against ordinary two-layer filters, we found that the Scania filter had a filter capacity that was up to six times longer! The lower capacity of the two-layer filter can cause early filter plugging and reduced engine performance.

We also found that the Scania five-layer filter is superior on contaminant holding capacity, on the ability to withstand high differential pressures due to clogging and the ability to filter out very small particles.

Poor sealing can cause leakage between unfiltered and filtered fuel.
In the Scania fuel filter, gasket overlap reduces the risk of the shell and head coming into contact when vibration occurs. This ensures the complete separation of unfiltered and filtered fuel, which extends the life of the engine.
