Air filters

  • Close tolerance fitting
  • Uniform density and pleating

Air is free, which is a good thing, since a diesel engine craves about 36 cubic metres of it every minute of operation! But the kind of air available on our roadways, construction sites and industrial settings is full of fine particles. And with the precision tolerances that characterize Scania engines, you can imagine what would happen if this dust got past the air filter, or clogged the filter and restricted the air intake. Disaster.

If the filter is too dense or clogged, the air-fuel mixture will be too rich, causing engine power to drop and fuel consumption to rise. Shortage of air causes poor combustion, more exhaust smoke emissions and carbon deposits on the valves.

The Scania air filter consists of an exchangeable cartridge insert that exactly matches its outer casing. The best filter element is worthless if it doesn’t seal properly against the outer casing, since it will allow contaminated air to bypass the filter and damage the engine. The filter paper must have uniform density and the folds must be evenly distributed in order to maximize the ability to trap impurities.

By using a Scania air filter you can be sure to get a filter that conforms to the exact, demanding specfications for your particular engines.
